Introduction to Music Technology
This introductory course for beginners - or for those wishing
to refresh their understanding - operates on-site in educational establishments,
fit to the particular needs of the setting, or from The
Studio @ The Stables as a public course. Available topics include:
Introduction to MIDI; The Sound Wave; Basics of Synthesis; Sampling
Concepts; Microphones, The Mixer; Common Media Standards; Dynamics Processing
(Effects Processing
(Reverb, Delay...); Recording Tips; Introduction to Mixing; Introduction to Mastering
The public course includes an afternoon recording
session, to which all participants are invited to contribute! For schools,
the normally six-week course (one hour session per week) includes elements of Listening, Appraising,
Composing and Performing.
An additional module on The History of Club Dance Music
is also available (either on-site or at The Studio @ The
Stables, particularly tailored to those teaching or learning GCSE Music.
